YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IS NOT ABOUT SATELLITES IT'S ABOUT CABLES UNDER THE SEA@
Excerpt : Ninety-nine percent of the world's digital communications rely on subsea cables. When they break, it could spell disaster for a whole country's internet. How do you fix a fault at the bottom of the ocean? ... There are 1.4 million km (870,000 miles) of telecommunication cables on the seafloor, covering every ocean on the planet. Laid end to end, these cables would span the diameter of the Sun, and are responsible for the transfer of 99% of all digital data. But for something so important, they are surprisingly slender – often little more than 2cm in diameter, or about the width of a hosepipe.

TSUNAMI ALARM SYSTEM
TSUNAMI ALARM SYSTEM ?!
EXCERPT: Tsunamis occur most frequently in the Pacific, particularly along the "Pacific Ring of Fire." This zone is found at the northern edge of the Pacific Plate and refers to the geologically most active fields of the earth. Several times a year, strong earth quakes of at least 7 on the Richter scale result in tsunamis.

JUNE GLOOM AND SMOG
A massive tornado hits the ground running and cuts a 16 miles path of destruction, followed by other smaller tornados that are just as mean. The Daunube River of Europe is flooding, effecting 10 countries today.
And here in Southern California there is "June Gloom" (a sort of foggy smoggyness that lingers mornings obscuring the sun, that "burns through") miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Boring compared to all that.
I feel lucky to live in Earthquake land at this point.
Of course, there are Earthquakes under the ocean waters too, which is what creates Tsunamis.
Every time there's a big enough Earthquake here, thousands of people make promises to themselves that they don't keep like moving away or wearing their clothes to bed, or buying all plastic dishware.
Feeling lazy today!

JAPANESE MERMAIDS NEEDED TO THE RESCUE!
We've been watching the developments in Japan - the struggle to keep the nuclear reactors from blowing up - the rescue crews trying to find people who might be alive under the rubble - and it's all so very upsetting.
But don't think I'm being silly when I say that Japanese mermaids are needed to the rescue.
You see in ancient Japan there were goddess of the sea and most of them were married to sea dragons!
In ancient Japan a tsunami might be thought of as in their area of expertise!
Seriously, our hearts go out to the people who have lost so much, and we can only hope that the good that comes out of this is lessons for the entire world!

Here is breaking news including a video from Malcolm Foster, Associated Press.
"The entire Pacific had been put on alert — including coastal areas of South America, Canada and Alaska — but waves were not as bad as expected... Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicenter. Another 137 were confirmed killed, with 531 people missing. Police also said 627 people were injured...The magnitude-8.9 offshore quake unleashed a 23-foot (seven-meter) tsunami and was followed for hours by more than 50 aftershocks, many of them of more than magnitude 6.0..."
