US SANTA BARBARA STUDENT LOOSES LEG TO SHARK

Shark sightings reportedly are common off Surf Beach.

"Surfers like the area, especially on a day like today when the break is head high and smooth. But they say they see sharks," Clay Garland, head ranger at Jalama Beach, told the Times.

DOES THE SEA LIFE YOU TOUCH in A HANDS ON EXHIBIT DIE FROM TOO MUCH HUMAN CONTACT?

Ever pick up the same starfish a couple hundred other people did that day and wonder if it will live after so much human contact, being taken up out of the water and into the air?

Do aquariums and other exhibitions pick species that are hardy or out of danger of extinction, knowing that these specimins will die?

SEA MONSTERS ON OLD MAPS OF THE SEA

OLD MAPS of the sea often show sea monsters. Today I wonder if these monsters were placed in unknown waters or about fear. Where they simply whales? Were there other species out there in the ancient oceans that are now extinct?
