WHEN THE OCEAN SENDS A CRY FOR HELP : SAN PEDRO'S MARINE MAMMAL CARE CENTER THE FOCUS OF THIS PERSONAL EXPERIENCE STORY
Excerpt: An unusually early and toxic algae bloom has caused a massive domoic acid poisoning event affecting pinnipeds, dolphins and seabirds all along the Southern California coast. While there have been other serious outbreaks in the 24 years since DA was first identified on the West Coast — the summer of 2023 was also harrowing — the early arrival and the morbid intensity of this event are straining local resources. Ash and runoff from the fires may be exacerbating the natural phenomenon, leading to heartbreaking scenes of dolphins stranding on public beaches, gasping for breath.

BLUE BIOLUMINESCENCE - INCOMING WAVES AT NIGHT NOW - LONG BEACH - SUNSET BEACH
PRESS TELEGRAM - WAVES GLOWING BLUE WITH BIOLUMINESCENCE waves from San Diego to Oxnard - great photos!
Excerpt:
The bioluminescent waves are caused by a dinoflagellate algae that that turns the ocean red during the day, but glows when agitated at night. Though the presence of a red tide can give a clue to when the glowing algae may show up at night, but they are highly uynpredictable and touch to find as wind, currents, and

BEACH AND RIVER CLEAN UPS!
No matter where you live there is probably an opportunity to roll up your pant legs and get with a group of like-minded people who are working to keep the beaches and waterways clean of garbage and debris.
Besides the beauty of cleanliness, we are helping our ocean environment and all the sea creatures that live in it.
A quick search brought up these Southern California Events

THE LONG BEACH BABY SHARK, CLIMATE CHANGE, JAWS, and the EARTH AS A SENTIENT BEING
The newscaster mentioned that some scientists (the ones that believe in Earth Changes and Global Warming) think that it's changes in water temperatures (and therefore currents) that are bringing sharks closer into shore, not just off Long Beach, California, but any ocean that has sharks. I agree that this is a strong possibility.
But there are so many different types of sharks and generally they are not all JAWS looking to chomp boats in half that interfere in their feeding on people.
A couple years ago I saw the film JAWS again, one of director Steven Spielberg's earliest efforts, and it was so suspenseful the way it was filmed and edited. It starts with missing children and a frantic mom on a crowded beach and goes from there, upping the horror until the huge shark goes after the scientists and fishermen alike.
It stands to reason that when the earth itself is warmer, the oceans are going to be warmer too. Now some people think the earth is a sentient being in its own right, a living thinking being, who makes its adjustments as it needs to in order to preserve its own life. These people may be the most radical of all the Earth Changes - Global Warming devotes, but you never know. It's also possible. There is so much we do not understand yet, so much that the scientists are working on, that whenever I read about another sea creature that might be a mermaid washing up on shore, I think "Why not?" Why are there stories of mermaids in so many cultures around the globe? (Including inland, lake and river mermaids!)
Yours,
Siren

SEVERAL PUZZLES ON THE SHARK THEME COMING UP
We recently went to the AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC in Long Beach California, which is a non profit, and a place that has large and impressive tanks. Let's just say that if you are not one to travel and go snorkeling or scuba diving, an aquarium like this is your only opportunity to see what it's like to be under the ocean with the coral, starfish, octopus, lobsters, and so very many fish - including SHARKS look like, and there are also places where you can safely TOUCH the animals.

AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC IN LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA IS A MUST SEE!
DID YOU KNOW THIS AQUARIUM HAS A HOSPITAL?
"The Aquarium’s veterinary hospital features advanced digital equipment. With an Eklin digital radiography system, x-ray film does not need processing and images are easily stored for diagnostic and record-keeping purposes. This equipment also speeds up the entire process of taking x-rays, which is better for the animals. A high-tech microscope with a camera imaging system can take pictures of slides. Just as with the x-ray machine, this microscope allows images to be e-mailed to colleagues. Endoscopy and laparoscopy equipment provide opportunities to perform minimally invasive techniques and view the patient internally with a camera."
