MOLA MOLA SUNFISH OFF THE COAST OF SAN DIEGO UP TO 14 FEET LONG UP TO 5000 POUNDS!

Pete Thomas of GrindTV.com covers underwater photographer Daniel Botelho, who has captured some wonderful images of GIANT fish called Mola Mola, a sunfish, off the coast of San Diego, California, in the Pacific.

"The sunfish can measure 14 feet and weigh as much as 5,000 pounds. They're found in tropical and temperate oceans. With their large bodies, truncated tails, tiny mouths, and huge eyes, they look like something not entirely whole and not of this world"

THE GUARDIAN : A FILM STARING KEVIN COSTNER and ASHTON KUTCHER

"The Guardian" is a film about the United States COAST GUARD and the role they play in dangerous rescues at sea. Hundreds of boats of all sizes and types get in trouble while at sea and sink, and often their only hope is a rescue by Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, who are dropped from about 20 feet into the sea and do their selfless best to rescue those who are in trouble. Sometimes they have to decide in a practical way who will live and who will be left to die, depending on how much time they have and the conditions they encounter. This movie focuses on an old timer, a legend, who is starting to run out of the energy and luck it takes to keep doing the job. He becomes an instructor at the Coast Guard academy where his somewhat unconventional methods to train - and eliminate those who can't do the job - put candidates into conditions they might encounter at sea. They must tread water for an hour, experience hypothermia, and what it is to have someone you're rescuing fight you because they are panicking. This movie was so interesting I didn't get up for snacks. I was totally into it. Now I don't want to ruin this movie for you by giving a play by play account of what happens but I think you may find the spiritual aspect of it also compelling!

GOLDFISH : THE FIRST LIVE FISH MANY OF US SEE

The first live fish many of us ever meet, as kids when we get a goldfish from the pet shop and put him or her in a glass jar or tank, is the goldfish. We put a little castle and some colored stones or sand, maybe a plastic vegetation, never thinking about the plastic leaking into the water over time and hurting the fish, because we want him to feel he has a little bit of home to live in.

We sprinking some food from a little container that looks like a spice, and we see him or her swim around, and then, often, the goldfish doesn't live too long...

VACATIONING AT THE BEACH AND WONDERING ABOUT THE RISE IN SEA LEVELS

So many people, especially those who live inland and indoors most of the year, go to the sea - the ocean - on vacation.

One of the most interesting news these days is the subject of "Global Warming."

Some people believe that while there is evidence of Global Warming, it is a natural cycle of nature that we should have extremely hot summers, like the one we're having now that's causing massive electric power outages, and we might actually be heading for another Ice Age, as a response from Mother Earth to all the melting.

Others believe it is human occupation and use of the earth, in particular pollution from burning fossil fuels, that is causing an unprecedented warming, a hole in the protective ozone layer of our atmosphere, and a rise in temperatures which will, of course, also effect the sea.

I'll be posting a bit on the rise in sea levels this month!
