SHOULD WE BOYCOTT EATING FISH CAUGHT BY CHINESE OVER LABOR TRAFFICKING (SLAVERY)? I THINK SO!

Labor Trafficking means that people are tricked into or actually abducted to perform work without being paid, underpaid, or as slaves.  This is a serious issue.  And as much as I hate the idea that fisherman might loose their livelihood, I don't think anyone who thinks of slavery or labor trafficking as serious should be eating these fish.

According to this broadcast, frozen fish, most fish you eat at fast food restaurants, and fish you buy at certain named stores, probably has been fished by people who are being labor trafficked.

The investigation includes the fact that some of these people who are forced to labor are gone for a couple years at sea, their families do not know where they are, and they are desperately even sending messages in bottles to be freed.

PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS SPECIAL REPORT WHICH IS BREAKING NEWS TODAY and decide how you will protest!  Contact the stores and restaurants and tell them what you think!

YOU EAT FISH? ARE YOU CONTRIBUTING TO THE EXTINCTION OF SPECIES?

According to SEAFOOD FOR THE FUTURE ORG, which is part of the nonprofit, AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC  http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/seafoodfuture  THE WORLD HUMAN POPULATION IS EXPECTED TO EXCEED 9.5 BILLION by 2050.  Seafood is among the healthiest sources of protein on the planet.  Wild capture seafood harvests have LEVELED OFF and CANNOT MEAN THE DEMAND.... More than # BILLION people on the planet DEPEND ON SEAFOOD as their primary source of protein...

and WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY and SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE to PRODUCE
ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE FARMED FISH.

It's called AQUACULTURE!

Go to this link and read about eating jelly fish, and the smallest porpoise on earth that is about to go extinct...the VAQUITA.

Fishing practices DO effect all ocean life.

JOHN ALDRIDGE SURVIVED FALLING INTO THE SEA BOOTS ON - AN ADVENTURE STORY

NEW YORK TIMES article SPECK IN THE SEA about JOHN ALDRIDGE

"The first thing you’re supposed to do, if you’re a fisherman and you fall in the ocean, is to kick off your boots. They’re dead weight that will pull you down. But as Aldridge treaded water, he realized that his boots were not pulling him down; in fact, they were lifting him up, weirdly elevating his feet and tipping him backward. Aldridge’s boots were an oddity among the members of Montauk’s commercial fishing fleet: thick green rubber monstrosities that were guaranteed to keep your feet warm down to minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature Montauk had not experienced since the ice age. Sosinski made fun of the boots, but Aldridge liked them: they were comfortable and sturdy and easy to slip on and off. And now, as he bobbed in the Atlantic, he had an idea of how they might save his life."

Just loved this story!  An adventure!
